The General Tax Authority, in collaboration with the General Authority of Customs, organised sports activities to commemorate the 13th National Sports Day under the theme "The Choice is Yours" at the Old Doha Port on Tuesday, February 13. The event saw the esteemed presence of HE Ahmed bin Issa Al-Mohannadi, President of the General Tax Authority, and HE Mr Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal, President of the General Authority of Customs, in addition to the enthusiastic participation of employees from both organisations. Activities included a variety of options, ranging from leisurely walks to brisk runs, interspersed with friendly sports competitions and engaging recreational group games. The GTA’s participation in the National Sports Day activities reflects its commitment to implementing Emiri Decree No. 80 of 2011, which aims to promote participation in sports activities. This initiative also aligns with the GTA's dedication to promoting a culture of wellness among its employees, emphasising the significance of sports as a cornerstone of a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. ‎ The State of Qatar organises National Sports Day events with the purpose of promoting the intrinsic moral and human values inherent in sports, alongside their significant health benefits. These initiatives serve as a platform for educating citizens and residents about the key role sports play in their daily lives and inspire them to embrace regular practice throughout the year.

The General Tax Authority Hosts a Regional Workshop on the Global Anti-Base Erosion Rules The General Tax Authority hosted a regional workshop, titled “Regional Workshop on the Global Anti-Base Erosion Rules: In-Depth Discussion on the Design and Implementation of DMTT”, at Hilton Doha Hotel from October 30 to 31, 2023. The event saw the participation of over 150 attendees, covering representatives the GCC countries, in addition to ministries, institutions and the private sector, and stakeholders within the tax sector in Qatar. On the first day of the workshop, participants received an overview of recent developments related to the Global Anti-Base Erosion Model Rules (GloBE Rules) and the Qualified Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax (QDMTT). The day also featured discussions on economic impact assessments, along with a presentation that covered the elements to consider in the design and implementation of a QDMTT. Commenting on hosting the regional workshop in Qatar, H.E. This approach is intended to yield mutual benefits, uphold the Anti-Base Erosion Rules, and prevent double taxation. In addition, the General Tax Authority’s diversification contributes to the realization of the Qatar National Vision 2030 objectives, which are centered on achieving sustainable development, promoting economic diversification, and ensuring a prosperous future for generations to come.
