The Exchange of Information on Request (EOIR)

The Exchange of Information on Request (EOIR) is the exchange of foreseeably relevant information for the administration or enforcement of the domestic tax laws of a requesting party. An EOIR is initiated by a request sent from one jurisdiction asking for specific information from another jurisdiction under an in-force tax treaty that includes provisions of exchange of information. Confidentiality and safeguards are assured.
