On Sunday, November 19, 2023, the General Tax Authority (GTA), in collaboration with the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), organized an awareness campaign to mark World Diabetes Day. The initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of life for GTA employees, promoting healthy lifestyle practices, and underscore the significance of early diabetes detection and regular monitoring to mitigate its severe complications. The QDA medical team provided GTA employees with health tips and performed comprehensive screenings, including blood sugar level checks, weight and height measurements to identify diabetes risk factors. The team also provided the participants with personalized nutrition consultations and guidance on adopting a healthy lifestyle to combat diabetes. The event also included educational materials that were handed to participants to enhance their understanding of the disease and its possible complications, such as heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, retinopathy, and nerve damage. Additionally, the medical team addressed attendees’ inquiries regarding the various types of diabetes, early signs, and preventive measures. This event stems from GTA’s keenness to harness global health initiatives via engaging in awareness-raising activities that help promote health consciousness among its employees, particularly regarding serious diseases that adversely affect quality of life. Notably, the Qatar Diabetes Association, a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), supports individuals and families living with diabetes to assist with its management.
